EPIC Meeting on FMCW LiDAR Systems at Laser World of Photonics
Munich, Germany

Most LiDAR systems are currently based on Time of Flight (TOF) technology. It allows to accurately determine the distance to an object and its location by measuring the time it takes for the laser beam to reach an object and come back. The more advanced FMCW technology is able to correctly determine the distance to objects on the roads, but also measure their speed, geometry, and reflectivity. In this session we will discuss the challenges in this technology, and its emerging applications, including the detection systems in self-driving cars.

Speakers

Dieter is a graduate geoscientist with extensive experience in mapping, remote sensing and lidar & navigation industries. For the past 25 years, he has worked in a variety of international corporations, including the Daimler Group or EADS and Trimble, in client-focused leadership positions. In 2015, he joined Velodyne as European Marketing Manager.

Marketing Manager EMEA at Velodyne

Davide Canavesi is responsible for Strategy and Business Development at Scantinel. He has more than 10 years of experience in the semiconductor industry where he worked in various roles at STMicroelectronics and Dialog Semiconductor. He holds a B.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering, a M.Sc. in Electronic Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Munich Business School.

Strategy and Business Development at Scantinel Photonics

Dr Yousefi has over 2 decades of experience at all levels of the Photonics value chain, from calculating the quantum dynamics of coupled lasers, to fabricating semiconductor lasers in cleanroom, building and operating cleanrooms, defining automated assembly & packaging strategies and setting up high level R&D teams for multi-national organizations. In the past few years, he has been active within the field of Lidars with special focus on end-user applications.

Manuel Queisser is a research scientist at ZX Lidars. He has 15 years of experience in the development and application of atmospheric Lidar, at the interface of geoscience and applied optics.

Laser and New Technologies Scientist at ZX Lidars

Ricardo has Master in Physics Engineering from the University of Aveiro in Portugal and PhD in Physics from the University of Strathclyde in the UK. He has worked for Osram in the field of systems engineering and for Huawei in semiconductor packaging technology. In 2022, Ricardo joined LiangDao to lead the advanced development of LiDAR in cooperation with partners and customers.
