Ultrafast Lasers are more and more demanded in the industry, in applications such as materials processing, communications, spectroscopy or life sciences. We have seen a lot of developments on pico- and femtosecond lasers in the last years, which allowed to cover the special requirements of those new applications with specific wavelengths, higher energies and powers, improved tunability and pulses with different characteristics (width, shape…). In particular, industrial laser processing has taken benefit of all those developments. New materials have been explored for demanding markets such as automotive, aerospace or medical, and better results with higher efficiency have been obtained in micromachining, surface texturing, additive manufacturing, sub-micron precision 3D printing or thin-film processing.

In this meeting, we will discuss about the new properties of the laser sources available nowadays for processing applications, the innovative solutions for the characterization of ultrashort pulses, the new monitoring solutions and the needs of the industry regarding new optical and mechanical components for beam transport.

Speakers
Freelance

Following his engineering degree from the École Polytechnique, Ivan Gusachenko obtained his doctorate in 2012 from the Ecole Polytechnique in the field of multiphoton microscopy. He then continued his research in various laboratories around the world, notably at the Institute of Science and Technology of Okinawa in Japan, at the University of Saint Andrews in the United Kingdom, and at the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris. He joined CAILABS in 2019 in the simulations department and designed the optical design of many systems, especially for ultra-short laser machining. He is also a Product Architect on the CANUNDA-PULSE and CANUNDA-SPLIT product lines.
